The historical interpreter will execute his/her responsibilities with a positive attitude, neat appearance, and a friendly and pleasant demeanor toward all visitors at the state historic site. The successful applicant will:Welcome and orientate visitors, lead hands-on activities, and conduct guided tours.Interpret site history enjoyably and accurately by making use of research and training.Provide excellent service and assess visitor's special needs.Maintain a clean working environment.Assist with store operations including running a cash register, displaying merchandise, and keeping track of inventory.Familiarize visitors with the mission of the State Historical Society and other historical sites.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be at least 16 years of age.Ability to learn site history.Must be able to speak in public.Ability to communicate with groups and individuals of diverse ages, interests, and perspectives.Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays. All applicants are responsible for their own housing.
