The successful applicant will:assist in mowing and trimming grass at several state historic sites throughout the regionremove trash from all locations and transport to designated dumpsterperform other duties as determined by the Historic Sites Maintenance and Construction Supervisorassist the Historic Sites Maintenance and Construction Supervisor with small maintenance and construction projectsperform all maintenance duties on machinery, tools, and other equipment to keep them in proper working orderassist in maintaining inventory of supplies on hand and inform supervisor of needs

Your primary responsibilities will include: Organize and schedule America250 ND commission meetings. Work with North Dakota communities, tribal nations, state partners, the commission, and Historical Society team members to promote programs, events, and activities to ensure that the semiquincentennial is an authentic, inclusive, vibrant statewide commemoration. Facilitate coordination and communication between participating state agencies and partners to ensure one voice in messaging, marketing, and implementation of state- sponsored 250th commemorative activities and initiatives. Coordinate with the Audience Engagement and Museum (AEM) team of the State Historical Society to develop communication strategies to bring awareness to and interest to America250 ND, including, but not limited to, developing a statewide calendar of events, producing news releases, organizing media events and working closely with media, and coordinating America250 merchandise. Monitor budget and make recommendations for expenditures. Coordinate with the AEM team to support the development of exhibits, programming, and educational materials related to the 250th commemoration. Record America250 ND meeting minutes, provide monthly update reports to the ND commission, and produce a final state report covering all details of the America250 ND planning and execution. To be successful in this position, you should have a combination of related education and demonstrated experience totaling a minimum of five years. This could look like a bachelor's degree in communications, business, marketing, event planning, or other closely related field and one year of experience or a high school diploma (or equivalent) and five years of experience. A passion and interest for North Dakota history is a plus!

Career Description




The interpreter/store clerk will execute their responsibilities with a positive attitude, neat appearance, and friendly and pleasant demeanor toward all visitors at the state historic site. The successful applicant will:Actively listen to visitors, answer their questions, welcome and orient visitors, assist with special eventsInterpret site history enjoyably and accurately, making good use of research, training, appropriate language skillsFamiliarize visitors with the State Historical Society mission and its other state historic sitesAssess and provide for visitors' special needs, such as appropriate services for the elderly, handicapped, and foreign visitorsProvide excellent customer serviceClean and tidy facilities including work areas, public areas, and bathrooms. Perform other light maintenance tasks which might include watering and weeding outdoor plantings, dusting, and emptying trash receptacles.Other duties as assigned
