Meeting Recap

  • Watershed Boundary Dataset
    • This data has been updated on the GIS Hub and will now be updated every two years
    • The data on the Hub is a North Dakota-centric January snapshot of the National Watershed Boundary data
    • The Hub Data Portal has been updated to include a link to the National Watershed Boundary Dataset
  • Future Imagery
    • 2017 may be the last year for obtaining the statewide NAIP from the USDA
    • Need to look at other options and criteria. Concerns include the need to be able to access previous years, cost, and the need to manage subscription access
    • Historical imagery in 10-year blocks is also of interest.  We have 90s and late 50s/early 60s and now would like to go further back
  • Datum/Coordinate System
    • Needs to be more complete documentation on state standards to make it easier for
      • conversion to the new datum (by clearly stating what the current standards are)
      • vendors and all levels of government to easily determine what is required
    • This documentation will placed onto the GIS Hub website
  • Rural Water Layers
    • Existing layers will be renamed for consistency
    • New layers will be added, using the new naming which consists of using "RuralWater" as the prefix
  • City Boundaries Update
    • Work continues with a number of agencies and the League of Cities to determine a workflow for managing submitted data
  • GeoPackage
    • This is an OGC standard which may be a handy way for one to distribute/share data
    • The GIS Hub Data Portal now supports this format for data downloaded
    • While the Esri desktop products allow for creation of a geopackage, Esri desktop production are not able to edit the contents of the geopackage
    • QGIS allows creation of a geopackage and editing the contents
